Dedicated Ice

The Coastal Carolina Curling Club was founded in 2011 and continues to grow through our Learn-To-Curl events, Beach-Spiels, league play, and other fun events. As membership grows in the club, so grows Wilmington; more and more people are enjoying the Wilmington Ice House, which is the only coastal ice facility from Jacksonville to Charleston.

Reliable ice times are becoming harder to get, and the times we are getting are not sustainable for league play. The club has realized that we need dedicated ice to allow our sport to prosper in Wilmington, and is beginning the hard work to plan for a local dedicated ice facility.

A project of this size will take several years and require a substantial amount of planning, fundraising, and concerted effort by everyone in the club.  In order to succeed, we need to  consider the following steps:

  • Gain and maintain Board and membership support
  • Find a location for te facility, either in an existing building that we can retrofit, or land on which to build
  • Prepare a financial plan, and secure funding that allows the project to succeed
  • Design and build the facility, and install the ice.

We are currently in the research phase of or project, but have not yet launched the initiative. Please contact the board at, to learn more about our dedicated ice goals and how we are planning to get there!
